The Provincialate for the New Orleans-Santa Fe District is located in the former Novitiate building in Lafayette, LA.  When the District was established in 1921, Brother Agnel, the first Visitor, secured the purchase of the old “Magnolia Plantation” on the outskirts of Lafayette.  There he established a Juniorate in 1922, and a Novitiate was later constructed under the visitorship of Brother Arsenius in 1927.  With the exception of  the relocation of the Provincialate to Metairie, LA from 1972-1978, the District’s administrative center has been situated among the lush lawns, oaks, magnolias, azaleas and camellias of what is affectionately known by the Brothers of the District as “Magnolia.”
