Brother Ephrem Hebert, RIP
August 13, 2008
Brother
Ephrem Hebert, FSC,
entered eternal life early this
morning in the Holy Family
community in Lafayette,
Louisiana following a brief
illness. On this feast of St.
Benilde we are reminded of his
ordinary and extraordinary
virtues and the zeal that marked
his work for the salvation of
young people. For this reason, I
am confident Brother Ephrem
received the chorus of welcome
the Founder described: “Ah, what
a thrill of joy you will get
when you hear the voices of
those whom you have led almost
by the hand into heaven!”
Brother Ephrem gave his body to science (Tulane University). There will be a memorial service at St. Thomas More High School, where Brother served for 30 years; there will also be a memorial at De La Salle Christian Brothers in Lafayette. Details will be forthcoming. In the meantime, let us take to heart the words of Saint Ambrose: "We have loved him during life, let us not abandon him, until we have conducted him by our prayers into the house of the Lord."
