Brother Jerome Cox of the Midwest District created this image of St. La Salle in 1995. This icon was created in 1998 by Simeon, a monk of the Light of Christ Monastery in Borrego Springs, CA. This statue is a reproduction of one by Falguiere for the top of a fountain monument to De La Salle in the French city of Rouen where the saint died in 1719. Although St. John Baptist de La Salle was proclaimed "Patron of All Teachers" by Pope Pius XII in 1950, St. Aloysius Gonzaga is known as the Patron of Youth. Santa Fe artist Frederico Vigil painted this mural in 1986. It is part of a larger scene in which De La Salle is placed in the outstretched arms of Jesus. De La Salle is in the center of the panel with (clockwise from the upper right) St. Mutien-Marie Wiaux, Blessed Brother Solomon Leclerq, Saint Benilde Romancon, and Saint Miguel Febres Cordero surrounding him.. Ricardo Montoya of Santa Fe created this reredos and was donated to the school by Ms. Erma Boltman in 1998. The traditional image has been modernized and includes both a boy and girl to reflect the present reality of our coed schools like Mullen. The bust, which originally occupied a prominent space at the now-closed Brothers' residence of De La Salle High School, NO, was carved by Mexican artist Rocha.
