St. Michael’s High School was founded in 1859
by the De La Salle Christian Brothers. The school educates boys and girls in
seventh through twelfth grades and operates on the following core
principles: Faith in the presence of God, Respect for all Persons, Quality
Education, Concern for the Poor and Social Justice, and Inclusive Community.
There are 760 students enrolled, 70% of whom identify as Catholic. The SMHS
graduation rate is 100%; the college-bound rate is 99%.
The New Orleans-Santa Fe District is a province of the international
Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, better known as the De
La Salle Christian Brothers. Our District conducts schools—elementary
through college—in Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and collaborating
with the San Francisco District in
Arizona. Our District headquarters is located in Lafayette, LA.
